Lost in Montmartre

This version of Lost in Montmartre includes an original additional 4th verse, (removed for the Radio Edit), now extending the song to the full 4 minutes 19 secs. Written after a exploring the enchanting, art history rich, village of Montmartre, in the 18th Arrondissement de Paris.

It was a rainy day in the late autumn of 2019, (of course it was!) and after getting lost found a way out down the Rue Lepic. Michael had some chords roughly sketched out for the words. Later, Nick put a fresh musical take to the lyrics. His chords and phrasing really captured the mood of the song. A music video was created of the memorable experience in Montmartre, and out and about in the 8th Arrondissement de Paris. Subtitles are embedded within the music video sequences. Enjoy.

In the Course of Time

In the Course of Time was first performed in the early 1980’s at the historic Bald Rock Hotel located on the Balmain Peninsula. Nick Radovic was on vocals, guitar and bass, Michael Bryant on keyboards and guitar and Phil Radovic (Nicks brother) drums/percussion.

Michael had written verses and chords for the song pointing to the severe drought which at the time was affecting farmers in Australia. Whilst referencing the future threat of climate change that Dr. David Suzuki and other climate scientists were warning the world about, the lyrics had an underlying theme of hope for our beautiful earth to be restored.

Fast forward forty odd years and Michael and Nick revisited the song aiming to launch it to a wider audience. Nick contributed some extra lyrics which brought into sharper focus the 21st century impact of climate change. Their musical collaboration over several months in 2024 culminated in the release of In the Course of Time, on their Horizone label. The lyrics as captions are embedded into the music video.A huge thanks to Maurice D'Abruzzo for offering his considerable creative talents in producing the final studio mix.

Some people are fortunate enough in their life to experience what's often called their Halcyon Days. Michael's brother Roger enjoyed his while living in Portugal in the late 1960's. He was travelling with a lifelong friend, Marc de Jong. Every night they tuned in at 6pm to what Roger remembered as Radio Lisbon. They would play some Leonard Cohen, whose songs resonated with their worldviews.

Sadly, Roger and Marc have passed away, as has Leonard. This instrumental version of the song attempts to evoke some of those memories with piano and strings, words (closed captions) and images. Hopefully there will be a version with Nick on vocals in the future.
